Huntington exposes himself

Robert Nutting didn’t want him in the front office.

Nor did Frank Coonelly.

Neal Huntington did as his #1 but was firmly rejected by him. In fact, this man also rejected Coonelly’s advances after Huntington’s efforts failed. Yet Huntington finally exposed himself last week by making it perfectly clear what program he intends to emulate..

.. THAT man.. Tony LaCava.

Not the Cleveland Indians.

Surprised? Don’t be. You see, when some of the front office men in the Indians organization like Huntington needed evaluation information, they turned to LaCava.

One of the guys LaCava might have called to help Huntington et al was someone who works under him – Tom Burns, an outstanding area scouting supervisor for the Blue Jays. You see, LaCava and Burns go back to the Angels organization as scouts with my buddy Tom Kotchman and, unquestionably, LaCava and Burns are joined at the hips.

And, of course, Huntington knows that too.

So what do you do if the guy you want to hire refuses to buy into your program? Right – you court his best bud.

At least, that’s what Huntington attempted to do.

But so far it seems Burns isn’t buying into Huntington’s ****, the loyal soldier he is. You see, loyalty is worth more than money to a lot of people in this game and, well, Huntington’s loyalty tank ran dry when he took the Pirates GM position for reasons we won’t go into here.

But everybody in the biz knows why.

As for Huntington? We have to assume he loves rejection considering the paths he has taken. Oh, he’ll find his assistants without any problem – there are men in the game who just want money, advancement, and glamour.

But they probably won’t be coming from LaCava’s camp like Huntington wants.

Zip it up Neal baby – things that are little need protection.

It is all about LaCava for you, isn’t it? Just because you know someone that knows him, doesn’t mean he is the only answer for the Pirates.

If LaCava is so great, I’m sure he’ll get the Cards GM position. But, it sounds like he is difficult to work with, kind of a “my way or the highway” type of guy.

The visual image of two men joined at the hip is a bit much for me. In the future, you might look for an alternative phrase.

You may prove right about the new duo — Coonelly and Huntington. But please give your negative spin a rest. After 15 consecutive seasons, we need some hope for the future. But you keep kicking the **** in our face.

Amen to the post immediately above. Whatever happened to your post stating that everything started with the fans being positive and behind the organization? Could we speak to the person inside Jake BlogBoy?

Thanks for the feedback all! Great stuff – even the stalker. 🙂

Well, you could go read the newspaper rehash at all the other Pirates blogs and forums, go read absolutely nothing at the Post-Gazette, or, you can get dialed in here.

Getting dialed in means you hear what’s happening behind the scenes as I hear it – good and bad. I’m certainly not going to paint a blue sky pink just because optimists want something to read. Screw that.

Coonelly and Hunting have problems and how they deal with these issues are going to go a long way in determining if they can be successful or not.

As one person said in an email to me today, “Huntington might have come from The Jake but he didn’t have to deal with THE Jake.” He’s right – I plan to keep as much pressure on these clowns as I can.

Someone in this city certainly needs to.

bucsfan – Burns is an outstanding scout. Any GM would probably love him as an assistant.

blprkfrnks – “joined at the hips” is commonly used around the game 🙂

“You see, loyalty is worth more than money to a lot of people in this game and, well, Huntington’s loyalty tank ran dry when he took the Pirates GM position for reasons we won’t go into here. But everybody in the biz knows why.”

    Please elaborate.

bern — I can’t at this point without blowing who my source is and I simply won’t do that.

I’m sure it will come out over the next few months.

What do you mean you’re sure it will come out in the next few months? If you’re tossing around rumors like this then man-up and make it “come out” yourself. Don’t wait for someone else to do it.

This seems to be Jake’s MO. You’re not allowed to dispute facts with him because he then will pull out the protection of his “sources” that probably don’t exist. Even if they do exist, they are almost always wrong. In essence, this allows him to just make up stuff to suit his own purposes and hide behind sources that likely are also imaginary. He wanted LaCava; they went another way, so because he’s pissed about that, he just confabulates this vast conspiracy. And by the way….the comment about” somebody in this CITY has to…..”….Jake doesn’t live within 1,000 miles of the CITY….it’s all just nonsense folks…..but keep reading for the entertainment value of watching someone write a blog, who generally makes everything up and then refuses to defend any factual assertions. Very lame….but quite entertaining….in a pitiful way.

Hey, this isn’t fair. You guys seem like you’re on to the BloggerBoy. Don’t you understand he’s been “around the game”. You guys straighten up or you’ll never have the chance to be “joined at the hip(s)” with Jake. Take that you ingrates!!!

I’m really surprised. Usually when posts turn this negative, he deletes them all…keep dancing…

Looks like the children have found your board Jake.

    little = protection

I rolled on the floor reading that.
